The witch hat, a broom you can fly on, six sweets, ectoplasm and the Whisperer's Echo, with every recipe.
All of these come out of the game on 2 November along with the rest of Halloween.
Put it on and you get night vision, Speed I and 10% less damage from everything. Mobs you kill have a 20% chance to drop one extra of something they were already dropping. You also leave a trail of purple sparkles over your head, which is the price of looking this good.
Take it off and the night vision and speed go with it. A real Night Vision potion you drank is left alone.
Witches drop it 5% of the time, plus 2% for each level of Looting on your weapon.

Wear it in your chest slot and double-tap jump. You fly the way you would in creative, sitting upright with the broom between your legs, and you can hover, climb and stop wherever you want. It's a bit slower than creative flight.
Two tricks:
While you wear it you also take half fall damage.
Flying wears it down, 1 durability every 2 seconds in the air. It never breaks: at the last point it stops flying and you float down slowly. The same happens if you take it off mid-air. Right-click ectoplasm while wearing it and it repairs a quarter of its durability.
Teleports still work while you fly. The broom disappears for a few seconds when you use /home, /spawn and the like, then comes back.
Yes, the recipe eats an elytra.

Hostile mobs you kill sometimes drop a random sweet (6% of kills). Mobs from spawners don't. You can craft them too, and most of them are cheap.
| Sweet | What it does |
|---|---|
| Candy Corn | Speed for 20 seconds |
| Caramel Apple | Fills you up and heals a bit |
| Swirl Lollipop | Haste for a minute |
| Chocolate Bar | Jump Boost for 30 seconds |
| Gummy Bat | Slow Falling for 12 seconds |
| Ghost Bonbon | 30 seconds as a ghost (see below) |
Candy corn, chocolate and gummy bats don't care where the ingredients go.

Shapeless: the ingredients can go in any slots.

The special one. Eat it and for 30 seconds you're invisible, a bit faster, falling slowly, and monsters stop chasing you. Anything that was already after you gives up. It has a 90 second cooldown.
Mobs drop one very rarely (0.75% of kills). Crafting it needs ectoplasm, so you'll be visiting the Whispering either way.

Ghost goo. You only get it in the Whispering: Lost Souls drop 1 or 2 each, and killing the Whisperer gives everyone who hit it 4 to 6.
It does two things. Right-click it while wearing the Witch Broom to repair the broom, and it goes into Ghost Bonbons.
The trophy for killing the Whisperer. Everyone who hurt it gets one, once per player, and only until 2 November.
It's useful as well as shiny. Carry it anywhere in your inventory during the Whispering and you make 25% less noise and see in the dark. Right-click it and every monster within 24 blocks glows for 8 seconds, so you can see what's coming. That has a 45 second cooldown.
The Whispering Where ectoplasm and the Echo come from.
Halloween 2026 The rest of the event, and the creepy sounds.
