Money
How to earn Crowns, and what you'll end up spending them on.
There's no admin shop selling diamonds at a fixed rate. Everything in circulation got there because a player dug it up, hauled it back and decided what it was worth.
You start with 200 Crowns. Here's how to get more.
Get a job
/jobs is where money mainly comes from. Pick one that matches how you already play and you get paid per action for things you were doing anyway.
There are twelve: Miner, Woodcutter, Farmer, Fisherman, Hunter, Digger, Builder, Crafter, Brewer, Enchanter, Weaponsmith and Explorer. Between them they cover ores, trees, crops, fishing, killing things, terraforming, building, crafting, potions, enchanting, weapon repair and wandering somewhere new.
Mining pays best per swing if you're going underground anyway. Farming and fishing pay less per action but you can do them while chatting.
Picking more than one
You can hold three jobs at once, and each extra one cuts the pay rate of all of them by 5%. Two jobs pay 95% each, three pay 90% each.
So take a second job if you really do split your time. If you spend most evenings in a mineshaft, one job earns you more than three.
Levelling
Jobs go to level 200, and every level adds 1% to that job's pay. Nothing resets when you die. A well-levelled Miner earns roughly double a fresh one for the same block, so the money gets noticeably better the longer you stick with one.
Each job also hands you one quest a day worth 100 Crowns, resetting at 4am. Break some blocks, catch some fish, kill some mobs. It takes a few minutes and it's the easiest money on the server.
Open /jobs in game for what each action currently pays. Those numbers get tuned, so the menu is always right and this page never will be.
Earning from other players
Everything below moves money around rather than making it.
- Run a shop. A chest plus
/shop create <price>sells while you're offline. See Shops & Auctions. - List in the auction house. Reaches everyone online. Right for one expensive thing, wrong for four stacks of cobble.
- Trade face to face.
/trade <player>opens a window you can both see, with items and money on both sides. - Get hired. A business owner can put you on payroll. You don't run anything, you just need someone willing to take you on.
- Rent out property. A room inside your town's claims can be sold or rented to anyone. See Property & Rent.
- Claim a landmark. It pays your town a resource every day and nobody has to collect it. See Towns & Claims.
What you're saving for
Most people are working towards one of these:
- A town of your own. Founding one is the big early goal. Claiming land on top of that is cheap per chunk, but it's a daily bill forever, so a big border needs a real income behind it.
- Town upgrades. More members, more land, your own teleport point, cheaper upkeep.
- A shopfront. Chest shops are free to make. A good spot inside a busy town is not.
- Auction slots, if you sell often enough to want more than one listing at a time.
- Forts, once somebody might actually come for your land.
Towns & Claims has the current prices for all of it.
Where the money goes
Small cuts come off a few things: shop sales, auction listings, withdrawing large amounts as a bank note, wages a business pays out, and the /rtp and /back teleports.
None of it goes to staff or a server account. It leaves the game entirely, which is the only reason prices here hold their value instead of drifting upward forever.
The one to actually watch is town upkeep. Taxes and upkeep are collected daily at 20:00, and a treasury that can't cover it loses 10% of its claims, at least 2 chunks, from the edges of your territory. Check it before it gets there.
Prices
Players set every price, so they move with what's being listed and bought. A stack of something common near spawn goes cheap. The same stack, when the nearest source is a long trip past everyone's borders, doesn't.
Most people price against 1 diamond to 100 Crowns. Nothing enforces that, it's just the number people have settled on, and it's a reasonable starting point when you have nothing else to go on. Try to double it and you'll get to watch your own listing gather dust for 48 hours.
Official documentation
Jobs runs on Jobs Reborn. The rest of the economy is our own plugin with no external docs, so if something here is wrong, Discord is the place to say so.
